Personal Style: Kentucky Derby Day!

derby 3 Did any of you go to a Kentucky Derby party this past weekend? Nicholas and I went over our friend's house for a Derby party, and it was so much fun! This was the first time that we have been to one of these parties, and the first time that we've even watched the Derby at all! Of course, dressing up in Southern Style was encouraged, so I scoured the thrift stores for a fabulous hat, and this is what I came up with!

I found the basic black floppy hat at our local Saver's store, which is actually a really great store. If you don't have a Saver's by you, it's kind of like a Goodwill or Amvets, but better. Everything was super clean and organized, and I actually found a few tops for $2.99 and $3.99 from Old Navy and a few other name brand stores which are in new condition! I added the awesome floral pin to the hat to make it a little more exciting, and it matched my dress perfectly!

You might remember this dress from the baptism chic post a few months ago where I paired it with tights and boots. It felt great to wear it with bare legs and wedges since the weather was so beautiful this weekend!

And of course, what is a Kentucky Derby party without a great game of horseshoes? This was the first time I played...and I lost. Surprise, surprise.
