Homemade Granola
Not crunchy like sunburned skin crunchy, but crunchy as in "dreadlocks, Birkenstocks, tree-hugger, vegan, organic, free-range" crunchy.
Why, you ask? This weekend, we made our own granola in our food dehydrator.
We've used our dehydrator for a lot of things...apple chips, jerky, dried herbs...but never granola!
And let me tell you, it turned out absolutely amazing. I don't really have a recipe for this at all. This was kind of a last minute, throw everything left over in a bowl and hope that it tastes delicious type of thing. Then we spread it on the plastic ring, stuck it in the dehydrator on the "nuts and seeds" setting, and let it go for about 9 hours. In the morning when I woke up I broke a piece off of it and it was delicious!
Here's what we threw together in our batch
- Peanut butter
- Craisins
- Walnuts
- Almonds
- Oats
- Bananas
- Raisins
- Pistachios
- Honey
Do any of you have a favorite recipe for homemade granola?
