Triple Chocolate Cake
Oh chocolate, how I do love thee. It's one of the world's most perfect things. Lucky for me, I'm going to a birthday party, and the birthday girl's favorite cake flavor is chocolate.
Now, I have already shared my vanilla buttercream recipe, but you might be surprised to know that the most amazing chocolate buttercream recipe that I have found is on the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder container.
Yep! This little guy right here! That's also where the chocolate cake recipe came from. Two perfect recipes right in the palm of your hand.
Now wait, the title of this post is TRIPLE chocolate cake. Where is the third source of chocolate, you ask?
Oh, I filled the cake with a whipped chocolate ganache. No big deal.
Both the chocolate cake recipe and chocolate buttercream frosting recipe can be found on the Hershey's website HERE
Here is how I made the ganache filling:
Whipped Chocolate Ganache
2 cups heavy cream
12 oz. chopped semi-sweet chocolate
Directions: Put the chopped chocolate in a heat-proof bowl. Pour the heavy cream into a medium sauce pan and heat until just boiling. Add the hot cream into the chopped chocolate and let sit for 8-10 minutes. After letting it sit, stir the cream and chocolate together with a rubber spatula until smooth. Put the mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour. After the mixture is completely cool, remove from the refrigerator and beat the mixture on medium-high until it is fluffy and light in color. This can be used as a frosting or as a filling.
