43North- It's Happening Here

I’m sure that most of us have heard of Shark Tank, right? A person has an idea for a business, product, or service and presents it to a panel of judges who decide if it’s lucrative enough to invest in and make a reality.

Did you know that Buffalo has its own version of Shark Tank?

It’s called 43North and it’s happening this month right here in the Queen City! Founded in 2014, 43North is a competition for startups to win the $1 million dollar grand prize, free incubator space, and the opportunity to operate tax-free under the START-UP NY program!

Their finals are happening on October 30th where ten competitors will take the stage at Shea’s in downtown Buffalo in hopes of winning the incredible grand prize. Eight of those 10 contestants will walk away with prize money, but there’s a catch…a very good one, in fact. Prizewinners must agree to have their CEO and at least 50% of their staff based in Buffalo for at least one year. Good for the business and good for the city. It’s a win/win!
