I've never been one to celebrate my birthday.

My birthday is on New Year's Eve...aka the worst day to have a birthday other than Christmas.  It's always cold and/or snowing, all of my friends already have plans, restaurants are insanely crowded, and I basically want to just hibernate until the day is over.

But even though I don't like celebrating my birthday, I LOVE celebrating the little things in life.  The little victories, the milestones, the accomplishments...because those are the things that happen because of hard work, passion and dedication.

My blog turned five years old in February.  Five years.  That's a big deal!  I started out on this blogging journey with the intention on getting myself out of a rut.  I was in a pretty rough place, depressed, in a job that I wasn't too particularly fond of, and I finally had the last straw and decided that I needed to do something.  I've always loved writing and decided that I should take it to the next level.  I did my research and realized that there wasn't that many bloggers in WNY.  I took a leap of faith, came up with the title, and just started pounding away at the keyboard.

I was pleasantly surprised just how quickly things took off for me.  At that point in time I was publishing posts 5-6 days a week, getting out as much content as I possibly could.  I was doing a lot of fashion posts and sprinkling Buffalo-centric posts in there as well.  Over time, I started to notice that the Buffalo posts were getting more traction and actually were a lot more fun for me to write, so my blog focus slowly changed.  Sure, I'll still publish the occasional fashion/beauty/food post, but my passion and my heart lies in this city.

To celebrate this milestone, I'm throwing a party THIS SATURDAY, June 9th, at 7pm at Buffalo Distilling Company.  Every single one of you are invited, because if it wasn't for all of you, I wouldn't be where I am today.  There's going to be food, drinks, music, a selfie station, cupcakes by Fairy Cakes, cookies by Mundy Cakes, Oxford Pennant giveaways to the first 50 guests, and I'll be raffling off one of my Hustle necklaces that I collaborated on with Pretty & Grit

I hope to see all of you there!

Oh, and a super giant huge thank you to Ryan Kell for these photos.  I came to him and was like, "Sooo I want to have an adult smash cake session and it's going to get messy but I think it will be fun."  And no questions asked, there he was!  You're the best, Ry!  And yes, it was messy, but it was delicious!
