Oxford Pennant Spring Pop-Up

photo TVG x OP Summer Invite - Public.jpg-1-1.jpeg

Okay, so I have a confession to make.

I’m kind of, sorta, completely, utterly obsessed with Oxford Pennant.  Seriously, this past year, EVERYONE received Oxford pennants from me as gifts.  Best. Ever.

Last year, Oxford created a pop-up shop called The Victory Gardens in December.  I actually wrote a blog post about it which you can find HERE.

For those of you who were able to attend their Holiday pop-up, you remember how incredible it was, right?  Such amazing pieces that were perfect for anyone on your gift list.

But hold up.  Next weekend, Oxford is REOPENING THE VICTORY GARDENS! *cue the heavenly music*  Their Spring pop-up grand re-opening is Saturday, May 20th from 6-9:30pm, and will be running through July 3rd.  I have a little bit of insider intel, and from what I hear, the shop is going to look absolutely beautiful!

Hope to see you there!

Buffalo Skyride

I’ve never been a big “athletic” person. Sure, I go to the gym, take workout classes, lift the occasional weight, but take notice that these are all solo things that I can do from the comfort of the indoors. Organized sports and fast-paced things were never my forte, for fear that I could hurt myself and die. Completely rational, right?

We have a local organization called Go Bike Buffalo, whose mission is to educate people about bicycle safety and make Buffalo a more bike-friendly city. They’ve done amazing things over the past few years, and organizing the Buffalo Skyride is just one of them.

This is the third year that Go Bike Buffalo has put on the Skyride, and it was the first year that I’ve participated. I never felt like I was in good enough shape to ride up the Skyway, but since I’ve been taking weekly spin classes for a few months, I figured what the heck. So I registered.

Nicholas is an avid cyclist (he’s actually going to be biking 500+ miles from NYC to Niagara Falls in August!) so he helped me out with my gear and my bike. There were two options that you could do- a 10 mile and 25 mile. I opted to go with the 10 mile because I really wasn’t that comfortable yet riding long mileage through city streets. Spin class is one thing but when you combine cars with other cyclists and unpredictable weather, I needed to build up my confidence.

We took off from Riverworks Park (with a great view of the giant Labatt Blue six-pack) and…long story short…I did it!

I didn’t die and I didn’t crash and I didn’t fall off the Skyway. I would say that was a successful ride! I had so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again. Here are a few photos that Nicholas took with his Go Pro.

Personal Style: Something Special

photo Black skirt and white top.jpg

I love finding pieces that have a little bit of sass to them. You know, that little something extra that makes it super special.

I spotted this top at Banana Republic and instantly fell in love with it. From the delicate fabric to the gold button detail and the flirty sleeves, this top is going to get a lot of rotation in my wardrobe this summer!

VS PINK Model Emily DiDonato in Buffalo!

All photos except last provided to me by Full Picture

Last week, Buffalo PINK stores found out that they had won the PINK Spring Break Regional Instagram Contest! People had to post photos on Instagram of selfies in stores or PINK merchandise with hashtags that were specific to their store.  Out of 41 national regions, Buffalo won! How exciting is that?!

As a prize, two stores in our area received special freebies and an appearance from VS PINK model Emily DiDonato on Saturday. Not only is she a model for VS, she’s also very recently been in Sports Illustrated!

Since I had to work our Easter Bunny Arrival on Saturday, I was able to meet and have my photo taken with Emily. There was a pretty long line to meet her, and I’m not surprised!  She was super sweet and took the time to take a photo and talk to everyone. It’s not every day that a supermodel comes to Buffalo, so this was a pretty big deal!

By the way, if you are lucky to have a PINK store near you, get in there ASAP. They have the CUTEST clothing for summer, and I pretty much wanted to buy the entire store when I was in there.

Emily totally agrees.

It was great meeting Emily and YAY Buffalo for winning PINK’s Spring Break Instagram Contest!

Weekend Festivals in Buffalo

This weekend starts my favorite time of year…summer festival season!

Buffalo has SO many great festivals, and there’s something going on every week/weekend from here on out until the end of summer.

Here’s a list of some of the great things happening this weekend!!

For a comprehensive list of events happening this weekend, head on over to the Visit Buffalo Niagara website!

Memorial Day Weekend Shenanigans

Happy Tuesday all!

How was your Memorial Day?  Did you have a glorious 3 day weekend like I did?  So nice, right?

Our weekend didn’t start off that great, though.  Nicholas decided it would be awesome on Saturday to slice his thumb open and get 6 stitches.

I’ll spare you the blood-filled photos that he texted me right after he cut his finger open…it was pretty much a scene out of Dexter.  I couldn’t look when they were stitching him up.  I’m a huge baby.  It’s still hard for me to look at it now with the stitches in it.  Again, super huge baby right here.

Sunday was luckily a heck of a lot better.  The weather was fantastic and it was one of my best friend’s 30th birthday party.  One of the things that I love about her is that she is not easily offended…so my mom and I picked up a few of these party hats.

Yes, they say what you think they say.

Fantastic, right? She was so surprised and wore her hat the entire time. Made me so happy!

They also had “paint your own” mustaches on a stick…we took full advantage of that!

Bella even wanted to get in on the festivities!

Sunday was the Buffalo Marathon. While I did not partake in the marathon itself, we decided to head up to Delaware Park for our usual weekend run and actually ran alongside some of the marathoners. Let me tell you, there is nothing more motivating than running with so many awesome people. You bet that I ran extra hard that morning!

Yesterday, the weather was so beautiful, so we decided to buy all of our plants and do some gardening!

We started a vegetable garden last year and it was super successful, actually it was a little too successful as we had tomatoes coming out of our ears forever. This year I bought two cantaloupe and watermelon plants…hopefully they grow for us!

Aside from the hospital run, it was a great weekend!

What did you do this weekend?
