This is the BIG YEAR for Buffalo State’s Runway Fashion Show! Ten years is a huge milestone, and they are pulling out all of the stops for this one.
This year’s show is going to be held in the Sports Arena, a gigantic leap from their “smaller” shows of the past, and I’m so excited to see the designs this year. Each year, the students have to design around a specific theme. This year’s theme is Remember/Imagine. This theme empowers the fashion students, both current and past, to remember where they’ve been and imagine what the future of fashion holds. If you are curious about last year’s show, you can check out my post about Runway 9 HERE.
This year the Buffalo Blogging Network is the official sponsor of the Press Pit, and I am so thrilled to be working with the Runway 10 team! We will have a bunch of bloggers from our network in the audience covering the show, so make sure to check out social media for a peek at the amazing designs!
Tickets are still available on their website, so make sure to get yours today and join us for a night of fun and fashion!
Check out my post on the Boutique Show HERE!
After the Boutique Show and a short intermission, the Queen City Fashion Week Designer Show was ready to begin. The designers included B Layne, Vingt Cinq Rashaad, Noey Sunday, Dovi & Girls, Anna Dusza, Bureau and Franci Jewelry. I absolutely loved that all of the designers showcased were local. This is just a testament to all of the incredible talent that we have in this city!
Before I get into the beautiful fashions, I just have to give a shoutout to the emcee of the evening, Crista Botticello-Cimino. She was the perfect person to do the job as she has a long history of being in the Buffalo fashion industry. She looked gorgeous and did a fantastic job!
Now, the moment that you’ve all been waiting for…here are some of my favorite looks from the designer portion of the evening!
Insane, right? Now you see just how incredibly talented these Buffalo designers are! I loved all of the pieces, but I was DYING over that maroon coat from Bureau…I would wear that in a heartbeat. Also, all of Franci Jewelry’s pieces were so stunning. I would rock any of those with a sleek black dress. SO GOOD.
Thank you again, Rachel and the Queen City Fashion Week team for having me at the event. I am so impressed with both shows and I can’t wait until next year’s event!
This past weekend I attended the Buffalo State Runway fashion show (read the post about it HERE) and it was a great time! I’ve been to many a fashion show in my blogging career so far, and like I said in last week’s post, this has been one of my favorite ones to attend.
First of all, I got to hang out with some of my favorite local bloggers/influencers! You all will most likely recognize the wonderful YouTube duo Billy & Pat as well as local fashion blogger Ashley of Morning Glory.
We received All Access passes, which meant that we were able to hang out in the VIP area (which made me feel super fancy) and sip some champagne while waiting for the show to begin.
The show was great and the pieces were wonderful! These designers should be so proud of themselves for putting on such an entertaining show. Here are a few photos of my favorite pieces!
Such a wonderful evening! Thanks to the Buffalo State Runway team for the invitation. And thank you Erin for letting Ashley, NK and myself get up on stage and pretend that we were models 🙂
This Saturday, April 16th, is the yearly fashion show at Buffalo State College (my alma mater!)
I’ve been to many fashion shows in my blogging career, but this one has always been one of my favorites. For the past few years, the fashion department at Buff State puts on a runway show featuring student designers. I’m so in love with the fact that these students get a chance to showcase their pieces on a runway in front of hundreds of people…it’s like a dream come true! It actually makes me pretty jealous because I wish that I could design & sew my own clothing…I honestly don’t think I would ever shop again if I could do that!
This year’s theme is Eco-lution: Ecology plus Evolution.
Ecology – Human sciences; the love of what surrounds us. Thoughtfulness of the environment, sustainability. Looking to the stars and to earth for inspiration.
Evolution – the gradual development of something, usually simple to complex. Like the development of our students into designers and merchandisers; the development of cloth into garments, the changing of the apparel industry from wasteful to thoughtful.
Pretty cool, huh? I’m excited to see how the theme carries through the show.
Tickets are still available to purchase on their website HERE. I’ll be attending the 8pm show, so if you happen to see me, stop by and say hi! I hope to see you there!
As you know from my previous blog post, I was invited to this event called Glamour & Glow. I was pretty interested in the concept, as it promised to be a night of blacklights, body paint, and fashion. I brought my friend Brook with me as she is insane like I am and is definitely down for anything.
On the Facebook invitation, it said that costumes are encouraged. Seriously, if you tell us that we can wear costumes, we are going to WEAR costumes!
So we were thinking…it’s going to be in the dark and there will be blacklights, so what would be the perfect thing to wear?
Yep….light up outfits! Brook already had her light up skirt from an event that she is a part of in Niagara Falls (I know…who would ever think of making a light up skirt?) and luckily she had some extra strands of battery operated lights kicking around. All I did was pin them under the layers of my tulle skirt and I was good to go!
So, the event pretty much consisted of almost-naked girls wearing black light body paint, which was pretty cool to see the artistry of the painters. Here are a few photos that I was able to snap. Unfortunately, the stage was at the far end of the venue, and I was not able to get up close to take more photos since there was a pretty large crowd in front of the stage. I did like that the girls walked around after they were on the runway so I could see the detailing of the paint up close.
Here are some photos that I was able to snap during the event. Enjoy!
Are you a lover of art and fashion? Then you need to attend this amazing event coming up on Friday! It’s the Evolution 2015: Zen Wearable Art Show and it’s going to be amazing!
I’ve talked about wearable art shows in the past on my blog (HERE and HERE), and they are always such incredible events to attend. The designers are SO talented and creative to make pieces which are truly the definition of “wearable art.”
If you’ve attended these events in the past, you aren’t going to want to miss this one. I think it’s going to blow all of the past shows out of the water! I’m going to be modeling an amazing piece by Brook D’Angelo. You are going to die when you see what the dress is made out of!
Tickets for this show are $30 and can be purchased at the UB Center for the Arts Box Office or online at tickets.com. Hope to see you there!
There’s something about attending a fashion show that makes you feel like a total VIP…the atmosphere, the beautiful people, and of course the fabulous fashions! I totally jump at any opportunity that I get to attend a fashion show. I love seeing what the mega-talented designers create!
I’m going to be attending the Trendsetters Fashion Show presented by Pandamonium and I’m SO pumped! It’s happening on Friday, February 13th at 7pm at the Shea’s Smith Theatre. I’ve never been to that Theatre before so I’m really excited to explore!
If you are a fan of fashion shows like me, you definitely need to come and hang out with me! Tickets can be purchased via their Eventbrite page and be sure to check out their Facebook!
Here’s a little bit more information about the Fashion Show and Steven Bales, the founder of Pandamonium and BALES clothing company. I hope to see you there!
